Oulton Park Charity Drive!

As the sun began to rise across the oil-stained tarmac, the budding volunteers from the Bromley Foundation unpacked the stands, set up the buffet and arranged the goody bags onto the tables for the charity drive of the year!

With the last of the finishing touches in place, the entertainment and guest speakers began to arrive. As Judith Ude, Emma Wells and their bands set up, Mr Lee Jeys - surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital - prepared his slide show and Edward Rising from Southerby's auction in London familiarised himself with some of the prizes on offer.

As the clock struck nine, the crowds began to draw and the instructors at Oulton Park ushered guests into the induction room for their health and safety checks. Once everyone had been suitably briefed and welcome speeches were over, guests were taken down to the track to have their virgin laps with their very own instructor in a fully race prepared BMW M3. After the initial laps had taken place, guests were then able to choose between an array of Kit cars, track race cars or performance vehicles such as the TVR Tuscan or Aston Martin GT4 – kindly supplied by Aston Martin Racing. For those avid racers who regularly frequent the track, the option for guests to drive their own cars was also available.

After the morning's events, lunch was served and our fabulous guest speakers took to the stands. Mr Lee Jeys managed to very eloquently convey the importance of the charity and brought home the need for fund raising for the cause. Guests were then wowed by the stories of Charlotte, Paul and Callum, our special guest patients from the Royal Orthopaedic hospital, after which the auction began. Everything from Scalextric sets to bespoke designs from Selini Jewellery was on offer. A quick word from Kerry Katona to encourage the bidders and Edward Rising took to the stage.

After the auction had concluded and following the mesmerising sound of the female performances, guests made their way back down to the track for round two! After another few hours of engines, smoke and grease, a very happy crowd thanked the event organisers and co-founders of the Bromley Foundation for a fantastic event with a pledge to attend the next one and made their way home. A wonderful day had by all.

A HUGE thank you to everyone to attended and supported the Oulton Park charity drive in Chester, 12th September 2012. A special thank you to Kerry Katona for giving her time completely free of charge and supporting the event, and to SKN who sponsored us and provided all the guest goody bags and lastly to Rob Girling from Selini Jewellery who provided the charity with around £1m worth of exquisite Jewellery.
